No Wonder They Hate Science

Is it any wonder the Catholic Church hates science? Damn scientists keep using logic and reason to undermine their dogma. First it's evolution. Now it's the Shroud of Turin. This must be stopped.

Joe, as a former Catholic myself, I don't think the Catholic church hates science. They are not of the Evangelical ilk and stupidity that the protestant quick-creationists are, and 30 years ago, I was taught in Catholic School science class that evolution was real, and endorsed by the R.Catholic church officially. They've learned their lesson with Galileo, and have apologized for it. Of all the major religions in the world, the Catholics are fairly progressive.

Now, hate mongering, anger fanatic Bill Donohue (http://www.catholicleague.org/about.php ) is NOT representative of the entire Catholic church, he's just a vocal extremist who loves to be on talk shows.

Maybe kay Catholics and some of the clergy are tolerant. But the church's official stance is still anti-science. Try bringin up Darwin in Bible Study sometime and see what i mean :)

I have, and I did. Darwin is fully embraced by the Roman Catholic church. The most current Pope has written inane encyclicals against it as a cardinal, but his predecessor, fellow Pole John Paul II, fully embraced it and made it part of Canon law.

also, Roman Catholics don't have "Bible Study" so to speak, they have "CCD" (Confraternity of Christian Doctrine) ... AND IT IS much more PROGRESSIVE than the evangelical rants that the protestants come up with.
